Earthy Black Clay and Painted Porcelain Vase: Three
A deeply textural piece was a whole world of interest across the surface.
This clay is so rough to throw with on the pottery wheel, that I was literally wearing bandaids (plasters) for days afterwards. It feels like working with concrete, but the texture and quality of the complete piece is amazing (and absolutely worth the discomfort). I’ve employed that rough surface to my advantage when painting porcelain slip over the body of the vessel.
The interior is glazed, so this vase is watertight.
To be enjoyed on its own, or to be filled with greenery and blooms.
